Global warming? World War III? Drought? I don't know, you decide. I think the ground is a bit plain, but it's the best I could do with the bmp i was working with for the texture.

Wow! I just noticed the "face" in one of the clouds! That was purely unintentional, but wow what are the odds that would get rendered into the atmosphere like that?

Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first and the lesson second.

ah awesome did you figure out image overlay, must ask how sometime, coz i could do wonders if i knew how.

Yeah, I think I pretty much have a grasp on how the image overlay works. I think within the next couple of days I'll post a tutorial explaining what I know about it. I'll let you know :XD:

Ok, so obviously I haven't gotten around to a formal tutorial yet, but I'll just try and tell you what I've learned about it.
1. The image you use must be a 24-bit bmp file.
2. The higher the resolution the better
3. Generally you don't want to use the overlay on the base surface, because you have less control over the distribution of it.
4. Under the advanced distribution of the surface layer, a good place to start is with the fractal noise at the minimum level, and the coverage at the maximum level, and then play around with them to get the amount of coverage you desire.
5. In the "Image Overlay Options" make sure the terrain size is set to the size of the terrain you are working with.
6. Tiling is how many times the image file you are using will be repeated in either direction. In general the higher the number the better, depending on the image I'm using I'll use anywhere between 100 and 300. Again, this is just a place to start.
7. As far as overlay type, I haven't played with any other than the Total Overlay.

I got a bunch of good textures from [link] If I remember you have to sign up for an account to download their files, but it's free. Best of luck to you!
